New Standard Encyclopedia (1992) pages, flavored agar, vinegar, sugar, salt, water, canning jars
Material studies that substitute methods of information preservation with methods of food preservation. Pages from the New Standard Encyclopedia (1992) were "pickled" and "jellied" using materials that will promote growth over time. I will be tracking the interaction of those materials with the pages and altering the preservation solutions.
Topics of interest/at work:
- time sensitivity of data captured as information
- alternative methods of material archiving
SEE ALSO: Rest Assured, a project that likewise uses agar as a substrate to promote mold growth from the exposure/interaction of bodily fluids with spores in the environment.
